Kannawidan means “heritage”, this are the traditions and
culture that we inherit from our ancestors. Kannawidan Festival is a way for us
Ilocano’s to promote the different culture and traditions that we have. This is
also a way for us, the new generations, to know our very own culture and
traditions.
Kannawidan
Festival is being celebrated yearly. This is where we can see the different
products of 32 municipalities and 2 cities of Ilocos Sur (ONE TOWN ONE PRODUCT).
There are also a lot of events that are enjoyable to watch or participated. Like
the SAMIWENG DIAY KAPITOLYO(Tune
of the Capitol), ZARZUELA, KINNASIGLAT, SANIATA TI ILOCOS SUR, LUMBA TI KABALYO, TALUGADING NI ILOCANO, RAMEN KEN RAMAN, PARTUAT KEN PATANOR, TAWID UG-UGALI--this are the showcase of
the different talents, cultural dances and different traditions high-lighted in
the celebration of Kannawidan Festival.
We
are now in the modern days. But we must not forget the traditions and culture
that we inherit from our ancestors. Instead, we must preserve these traditions
and cultures for the next generations.
